Great campsite with a very friendly and accommodating owner who immediately made us feel welcome. Gated entry made the site feel nice and secure. I'm glad we paid a few quid extra for a pitch with a fire pit as it gave us the proper camping experience. There is a pen of friendly goats too so be sure to bring carrots! 🐐

We booked to stay here for 7 nights with our motorhome and our two dogs. Quiet location and staff were amenable when we asked to check in early so we could go to Durham for our Covid jabs. We chose our pitch as there was no staff there on our arrival or when we returned from Durham. Camp is classed as family friendly because of the animals, but we felt facilities were small and basic. We were asked to keep our dogs on leads which we seldom do as they are so well behaved and under control but they kept insisting. They were not bothering anyone else and we had to put up with screaming kids, kids running through our site and other dogs on our site. After weekend and being alone we just kept them around us. The toilet/shower block is one prefab building near entrance which has 3 showers and 3 toilets. Shared between both malefemale but only one entrance door. Covid rules state 1 person in building at a time which was ignored during weekend. They were very basic and not overly clean. We were only guests after Sunday and on Wednesday night we asked for the toilets/showers to be cleaned as they had not been touched all week and were grubby. Pot wash laundry also dirty and bins inside and outside building not emptied all week until Friday morning. Owner’s response to our cleaning request was to argue they had been cleaned and that he thought we were using the facilities in our “posh camper”. It was obvious they were lying as they were definitely not clean. They then cleaned them when we reminded them we were paying to use their facilities. Under sinks in toilet/shower block were loads of used toilet rolls and rubbish and no hot water taps in sinks as showers are electric. Their prices are too expensive for the basic facilities- extra charges for awnings, dogs, washing machine & showers when paying around £38 a night for a grass electric hook up. We didn’t have to pay for showers / washing machine as staying 7 nights but do expect to for shorter stays. Not sure also how they can get away with shared facilities for men/women. We decided to leave after 6 nights to go somewhere nicer. Would not recommend this site. Having run my own hospitality business arguing with guests is not the way to sort out problems.

Wishing my favoutote campsite the very best for next year❤🌲Merry Christmas to you both and Wills Mam and brother🎄 Great camping for couples, singles and families. Massive flat field with animals for the children to pet and feed, hireable fire pits and showers, pub also within walking distance if wanted plus shops. The lads on site second to none, the best welcome awaits. Back again last bank holiday, this place has transformed from a camp site to a holiday park, clean toilets and showers free to use, play area for the kids and separate area with picnic benches to use for bbqs, lots of open space for tents away from the tourers and open all year with fires allowed. Great place and near Kynren and Binchester Roman fort to name but a few. ❤

This is a brilliant camp site. Facilities are plentiful and clean, the prices are great and there are no finnickity rules. The owner just wants people to come and have a nice time. The play area is really nice and there are live animals roaming the site. Everyone we met there was really friendly and it was quiet at night. We'd would visit again.

We will be regulars to this site and recommend to all family and friends. Can't wait to see how the guys develop the place. Thanks for a great weekend. Gavin and Clare

We stayed on this camp site last year. It was a cheap and cheerful site so decided to go again this year. 2 adults and 4 kids. When we arrived the site appeared to be under construction which was not mentioned when booking but I suppose everyone needs to work. The owners weren't that friendly unless they were trying to sell you fire logs but never mind we weren't there for chit chat we were there for the kids to have a good time and enjoy the outdoors. There was hardly anyone on the site, a few caravans which seemed to be friends of the owners and only one other tent, this seemed unusual considering the time of year and weather.....now I know why!! On what seemed to be the hottest day of the year and around 34 degrees! We had been off the site all day and when we got back the kids wanted a water Fight to cool down which is completely normal for kids to play! My kids and the only other tents kids played. The owner came over and said we couldn't use the water as they were on a meter. I said well we've been off site all day so it's only what we would of used and the kids are hot. The kids played with the water in-between the 2 tents on the site. There was lots of room for them to play and they were respectfull of the surroundings. Them the owner came over and said he was turning the water off. At first I thought he was joking! How mistaken was I! He turned the water off and proceeded to wave his finger and rudely saying that we were not welcome back on site! Said the kids had left water running and broken showers. The kids were never left alone while showering. None of them were old enough! They said they had complaints from other campers that the kids were running around unsupervised and not looked after!!! but matter of fact was we were hardly in site as we felt that unwelcome! I would not recommend this site to any family or anyone that would want to use water!! Also just food for thought. Wonder if they would have been as rude to men? Did they think women camping alone with kids would just say nothing...🤔🤔🤔

Large grass field with all sorts of chicken walking around. Owner also keeps dogs. View is nice. Facilities ok. We received a warm welcome and had a quiet night in our tent. Gate is locked.
